Chris Pierce is known for his socially engaged music with Billboard topping hits (We Can Always Come Back to This) and for opening Neil Young’s recent tour. So it seems fitting that he’s featured on a powerful new anthem by rising folk/Americana duo, Joselyn & Don. “Choose Love” will be released October 4th, 2024 on all streaming platforms. The song is available starting September as a pre-release to press and radio, included on Hudson Harding's “Folk Now” compilation distributed to Folk Radio DJs, and has already begun receiving airplay on terrestrial and satellite radio - from Baton Rouge to the UK and Australia.
“Choose Love” is a soulful and personal statement, fearlessly delivered over a driving groove laid down by longtime Jackson Browne band members Bob Glaub on bass and Mauricio Lewak on drums. Don Barrozo’s guitar and producer Graham Richman’s organ create an evolving tapestry for Chris Pierce’s crying harmonica. His vocals complement Joselyn Wilkinson’s leads, as they both offer a strong perspective on why they “Choose Love” in a time of division and polarization. Without shying away from the truth of history or the urgency of the present moment, they declare that “I’m not alone, I got my whole army with me,” calling for a peaceful “loving revolution.”
This will be the first single in advance of Joselyn & Don’s third album, “Golden Hill,” in production for a 2025 release. Its moving songs chronicle love, loss and the search for home on the back roads of the American West. The album is produced by Graham Richman (Lizzie No) and mixed by Rachel Moore (T-Bone Burnett, Robert Plant & Alison Krauss). Joselyn & Don’s critically acclaimed first two albums were embraced internationally by independent radio, Americana music press and fans. They recently toured throughout their home state of Montana, and upcoming tour dates include stops in Scottsdale, AZ, Escondido, CA and Los Angeles.
