“Trouble” is the second single release from modern folk duo, Joselyn & Don, to be released March 27 in advance of their full length, “Hollywood Angel” due out later this year. From the first notes of “Trouble,” we know to expect the unexpected. We’re transported to a backwoods bar, or a smoky jazz joint, or to an Old West brothel – we’re not sure where, but we kinda like it. Minimalist instrumentation supports Joselyn Wilkinson’s growling vocal, which builds into horn section blasts, Don Barrozo’s Santana-like electric guitar, grooving Latin percussion and soaring vocals. “Trouble” is a 180-degree turn from Joselyn & Don’s debut single “All it Takes is Time,” an upbeat, acoustic Americana song, and the two songs taken together give us a full picture of the creativity of this powerhouse duo.

Lyrics

He’s got a roll in his walk like he wanna get caught
And his eyes slide around the room
He’s got a devilish face you mighta seen someplace
You take a second glance, too soon
He’s comin this way fingers stroking a glass
And his eyes are fixed on you
Something tells me he’s a snake with no heart to break
I hate to break it to you

If it walks, and it talks like trouble
And it smells, and he tells you he’s trouble
He’s ain’t misunderstood, deep inside he ain’t a little bit good
There’s just one thing I know, it’s trouble

In that little black dress and red shoes tonight
Little sister, you’re dressed to kill
If you’re looking for trouble you gonna find it alright
But you’ll get more then a thrill
That man will take you for everything you are
And leave you begging just to give him more
You better think twice before you name your price
Turn around and head for the door

If it walks, and it talks like trouble
And it smells, and he tells you he’s trouble
He’s ain’t misunderstood, deep inside he ain’t a little bit good
There’s just one thing I know, it’s trouble

I wish I couldn’t tell you this story so well
But I knew a man who looked like Jesus
Who was straight from the gates of Hell
Trust me you don’t want none of this
Find a sweet little boy in the corner to kiss
Just let trouble walk on by

If it walks, and it talks like trouble
And it smells, and he tells you he’s trouble
He’s ain’t misunderstood, deep inside he ain’t a little bit good
There’s just one thing I know, it’s trouble
And if it looks like trouble then it’s probably so
And there goes trouble
